Manipur Police Marks 132nd Raising Day with Grand Parade and Security Success”

Imphal: The Manipur Police celebrated its 132nd Raising Day with full pomp and vigor, featuring a parade display at the 1MR Parade Ground. The event saw the honorable Chief Minister of Manipur as the Chief Guest, joined by several dignitaries, including Ministers, Members of Parliament, MLAs, senior officers from the military and paramilitary forces, and representatives of media, making it a grand affair.

As part of the celebration, a book titled “Manipur Police Sportstars” was unveiled by the Chief Guest. This book shines a spotlight on the remarkable achievements of Manipur Police sports personnel who have earned recognition at prestigious events like the Olympics, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, and national competitions.

A significant announcement came from the Honorable Chief Minister, who declared an increase in the ration money for Manipur Police personnel, raising it from Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,500 as a welfare measure. This gesture was wholeheartedly appreciated by the police fraternity. The Chief Minister also revealed that the recruitment of female police personnel is under favorable consideration.

The Chief Minister bestowed trophies upon the Best Battalion, Best Police Station, and Best Police Officer. He acknowledged the vital role played by the security forces, particularly the police, during challenging times and urged the public to cooperate with them in restoring peace and normalcy in the state.

In his address, the Director General of Police (DGP) praised the remarkable work done by all the security forces in their efforts to maintain normalcy in Manipur. He highlighted the accomplishments of the police over the past year and appealed to the general public to collaborate with the security forces. The DGP also commended the significant achievements of Manipur Police Sports personnel on both national and international fronts. He outlined efforts to modernize the Manipur Police in terms of infrastructure, mobility, equipment, forensics, and training, and emphasized the seriousness with which welfare measures for sub-ordinate ranks are being taken up.

The celebration included impressive demonstrations by the Manipur Police Sports Club and a captivating bike show by Manipur Police, leaving the audience enthralled. As a testament to their commitment to the community, the day also featured a voluntary blood donation event at the 1MR Banquet Hall, where about 41 police officers and personnel generously donated blood.

Across all districts, including both hill and valley regions, Bada Khana feasts were organized at District Police stations, Police Stations, and Battalions.

In the evening, DGP Manipur engaged with members of the press (both print and electronic) at the PHÌ conference hall in celebration of Manipur Police Raising Day.

Security Forces Seize Significant Cache of Arms and Ammunition

In the past 24 hours, the security situation in the state remained under control. Security forces conducted search operations in fringe and vulnerable areas of Kakching, Bishnupur, and Churachandpur districts. These operations yielded a significant cache of arms, ammunition, and equipment from Wakan, Shantipur, and Khamenlok ridges under Sagolmang PS, Imphal East district.

The recovered items included 36 firearms, 1615 rounds of ammunition and explosives, and 132 pieces of equipment. Notable among the seized items were AK-47s, .303 Rifles, hand grenades, and improvised weaponry.

Ensuring Essential Supplies and Security Measures

Efforts have been made to ensure the smooth movement of 183 vehicles along NH-37 and 293 vehicles along NH-2 carrying essential items. Stringent security measures have been taken in vulnerable areas, including the deployment of security convoys in sensitive regions to facilitate safe vehicle movement.

A total of 131 Nakas/Checkpoints were installed across different districts of Manipur, both in the hill and the valley, leading to the detention of 1164 individuals for violations in various parts of the state.
