Two Suspects Arrested Over Alleged Abduction Case of Two Meitei Students

Imphal: In a recent development that unfolded in connection with the reported abduction case of two young students, Avinash Maibam and Ningthoujam Anthony from Akham Awang Leikai, significant progress has been made. Two suspects, Lhunkhosei Chongloi, aged 30, and Satgohgin Hangsinh, aged 28, were apprehended following an intensive investigation by the authorities. Police suspect them to be cadres of the militant outfit under Suspension of Operation (SoO) agreement with the government, Kuki Revolutionary Army, United faction or KRA (U).

Meanwhile the information & Publicity Secretary of KRA (U) had issued a press statement saying the outfit has no hand in the abduction/disappearance of the two Meitei students.

Lhunkhosei Chongloi, the son of Hentinthang Chongloi from C Aisan Village, Saikul PS, and Satgohgin Hangsinh, the son of Ngamjalun Hangsinh from Khomunnom Village, Litan PS, were brought before a Magistrate and subsequently remanded into police custody for 11 days. This custody extends until November 17, 2023, providing an interim period for the investigation to progress.

Law enforcement’s swift action and dedication led to the successful apprehension of the two suspects, marking a crucial step in the case.

The ongoing investigation is anticipated to reveal more insights into the circumstances surrounding the reported abduction and, hopefully, the whereabouts of the missing boys.
