Imphal: Chief Minister Shri N. Biren Singh, present at the premiere of the play ‘Iningthou Kulachandra,’ emphasized its crucial role in educating current and future generations about Maharaja Kulachandra’s spirit and sacrifices. The 246th stage play by Rupmahal Theatre, presented under Chief Ministergi Artiste Sing Gi Tengbang (CMAT), had its debut at the Theatre today.
Addressing the audience as the chief guest, the Chief Minister underscored the historical significance of Rupmahal Theatre and pledged to reconstruct it at an estimated cost of around Rs. 4 crore. He acknowledged the influential role of theatre in societal transformation, emphasizing the importance of various art forms such as theatre and cinema.
Shri N. Biren Singh highlighted the state’s prowess in art, culture, and sports, emphasizing that CMAT was launched to support local artists. He stressed the need to promote Thang-ta among the youth, noting its benefits in maintaining physical fitness and instilling discipline.
Expressing concern about a perceived loss of nationalistic sentiment and discipline among the people, the Chief Minister shared his personal admiration for Maharaj Kulachandra and his desire to showcase the leader’s story through the play. He stated that the production would convey the message of sacrifices made by leaders.
Emphasizing the importance of historical events, Shri N. Biren Singh mentioned an upcoming film on the ‘Seven Years Devastation,’ featuring heroes like Maharaj Gambhir Singh, Maharaj Nar Singh, and Heerachandra.
In addressing the current challenges in the state, the Chief Minister urged everyone to confront hardships for a robust future, assuring no compromise in protecting and safeguarding the state. The event was also attended by Minister Shri Heikham Dingo Singh and various artists, creating a vibrant atmosphere of cultural celebration.
