Imphal : Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh, who has faced criticism since the outbreak of violence on May 3, received a hearty welcome from party MLAs in Imphal. Singh, arriving in Imphal on Friday after sealing a peace deal with the Major armed rebel group operating in Manipur was warmly greeted at Imphal airport. The Manipur government is now gearing up for a grand reception ceremony to celebrate the successful peace negotiations.
Singh’s handling of the Manipur situation has drawn criticism, particularly regarding the recent violence. Tribal organizations representing Kukis and Zo have declined dialogue with Singh, accusing him of partisanship.
Addressing the warm welcome, Singh expressed gratitude, stating, “I am grateful for the warm welcome by my colleagues, Ministers, and MLAs upon my return after the Peace Talk in New Delhi. The successful peace talks reflect our collective commitment to a harmonious future for Manipur. Let us work together for lasting peace and progress.”
