Asnikumar Singh senior spokesperson of BJP Manipur Pradesh & who is also Chairman of Loktak Development Authority( LDA) convey wishes on the historic occasion of Manipuri Nupilal : he said ; On the solemn occasion of our state’s Nupi Lal Numit, commemorating the ultimate sacrifice of our state’s brave womenfolk who fought for the identity and honour of Manipur.
What started as an agitation by our state’s womenfolk against economic and administrative policies of the British Political Agent In Manipur, evolved into a movement for constitutional and administrative reforms in Manipur.
It remains one of the most significant and identifiable events which define the ‘never say die’ attitude of our state and its women.
This historic movement contributed much to the making of Manipur. In many ways, it laid the groundwork for economic and political reforms. And perhaps most importantly, it was a turning point in the political journey of our state’s heroic figures like Jan Neta Hijam Irabot whose major focus until then had been social reforms.
He appeal “ In our society’s defining moments, our mothers and sisters have always played a pivotal role. In that same vein, we heartily appeal to fellow mothers and sisters to play a defining role in the ongoing collective efforts to restore peace and harmony in our motherland.”
