Imphal: (Waari Singbul Network) Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will embark on a 6200-km ‘Bharat Nyay Yatra’ from violence-hit Manipur to Mumbai for which Manipur PCC is all prepared for it, said the latter’s president and senior party legislator Keisham Meghachandra on Wednesday.
The Yatra will cover 14 states and 85 districts of the country. Of the 60-member Manipur assembly, Congress has 5 legislators.
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharghe will flag off the Yatra from Imphal on January 14 next year. This is Rahul’s second march after his ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’.
Meghachandra said AICC top leaders K Venugopal and Jairam Ramesh, party MPs, present and former chief ministers, and MLAs, intellectuals, social workers and other leaders will take part in the march.
According to Meghachandra, the key objective of the Yatra is to secure economic, social and political justice for the people of the nation.
There will be foot march as well as bus rides in the Yatra, he said at a media conference held at MPCC head office in Imphal .
AICC general secretary (organization) Venugopal , earlier in the day, said the party has chosen Manipur as Yatra’s starting point with the aim to begin the process of healing the wounds of the people who are facing the constant conflict spanning more than seven months.
Congress began ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ on September 7 last year from Kanyakumari to Kashmir covering 4500 km with the message of fostering unity and love.
Ningombam Bupenda Meitei, MPCC senior spokesperson, while expressing happiness over launching of the Yatra from Manipur, said the people of the state are heartily waiting for Rahul.
“What a great day today to hear from @kcvenugopalmp ji and @Jairam_Ramesh ji in announcing the continuing #BharatJodoYatra @bharatjodo from Manipur to Mumbai,” tweeted Bhupenda .
“The entire people of Manipur and the lakhs of @INCManipur workers are heartily waiting for @RahulGandhi ji in Manipur,” he said, adding that the exact location from which the Yatra would be flagged off and other key aspects like routes are to be finalized very soon.
Also the AICC vice chairman, (All India Fishermen Congress), Bupenda said that MPCC is keeping constant touch with AICC to ensure BNY begins with grand success.
