Imphal: (Waari Singbul Network) Amidst unrest, Manipur, a beacon of sports excellence, celebrates as two of its star athletes, Pukhrambam Sushila Chanu and Naorem Roshibina Devi, earn the prestigious Arjuna Award for their outstanding performances in their respective sporting arena. Their success not only brings pride to Manipur but shines a light on the entire North East.
Hockey player Pukhrambam Sushila Chanu and wushu athlete Naorem Roshibina Devi exemplify resilience and determination, inspiring success. Both were honored by President Droupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi. Speaking to Waari Singbul, Shushila said, it is the realization of a dream and she is extremely happy.
Roshibina, from Bishnupur district, found her passion for combat sports early, showcasing exceptional talent by winning medals at the Asian Games and Asian Wushu Championships. Meanwhile, Sushila Chanu, born in Imphal, emerged as a hockey leader, achieving accolades in various international events, including leading India to a bronze in the Women’s Hockey Junior World Cup and representing the national team with distinction.
