Imphal: In anticipation of the Kangla Meeting organized by Arambai Tenggol in Imphal, security measures have been significantly heightened. The presence of Indian security forces, equipped with heavy artillery, is evident at all entry points to Kangla Fort. Chief Minister N. Biren Singh is addressing the situation with utmost seriousness, conducting meetings with both MLAs and opposition members at his office Bungalow.
A three-member team from the Special Ministry of Home Affairs, led by AK Mishra, has arrived for what appears to be a follow-up to recent political developments in the state. However, there is skepticism surrounding Mishra’s involvement, given his role in dealing with Kuki SoO militants. The ongoing conflict in the state is further complicated by controversies over the leadership of the Unified Command.
Security measures extend to the tightening of Kangla Fort gates, with forces armed with war-like weapons. The Chief Minister’s Bungalow and Kangleipak Road stretch are under the watch of a significant number of Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel. Combined forces, along with armored vehicles, are stationed at crucial junctions leading towards Kangla Fort, including Konung Mamang, Keishampat, Chingmeirong, Moirangkhom, and Khyathong.
Simultaneously, state police have intensified security checks at various locations in preparation for the Kangla Fort meeting and the upcoming 75th Republic Day celebration. The overall situation reflects the gravity of the circumstances and the concerted efforts to ensure the safety and control of the events unfolding in Imphal.
