Group Captain Wangkhem Suresh Singh, nominated for Higher Defence Management Course!

Imphal Manipur: The Sainik School Imphal Alumni Association (SSIAA) congratulated Group Captain Wangkhem Suresh Singh for being nominated to undergo the prestigious Higher Defence Management Course at the College of Defence Management, Secunderabad in Telangana. He is the first Air Force Officer from the state to be nominated to undergo this course.

An alumnus of Sainik School Imphal (SSI), Gp Capt Suresh was born to W. Borobi (Late) and W. (O) Memton Devi of Kakwa Lamdaibung, Imphal East, Manipur. He is the younger brother of Colonel Wangkhem Somorjit Singh, Adm. No. 847, also an alumnus of SSI.

Gp Capt Wangkhem Suresh belongs the 20th Batch of Sainik School Imphal, Netaji House, bearing Adm. No. 1252. He was the School Vice-Captain and School Captain, had many laurel during his school days. He was very excellent in drill and firing, participated the coveted Republic Day Camp (RDC) at New Delhi, in year 1997 as a first Senior Division Cadet from the school. He was the only Cadet to North Eastern Region Contingent for the Youth Exchange programme to Canada during the RDC. He was a keen sportsman, a gifted learner, always helpful, cheering and a well-disciplined Cadet while in School, the Association remembered.

He joined National Defence Academy (NDA), in 102 Course, Charlie Squadron and graduated as Most Promising Horse Rider Trophy of his Course. Suresh was commissioned into the Flying (Navigation) Branch of the IAF with best in air works trophy.

During his service spanning more than twenty years, he has flown in all types of terrain, operated from various airfields in India and abroad. He was specialised in valley flying in Northern Himalayas and Arunachal hills in Tactical Transport Aircraft. He had undergone almost all the professional courses of Air Force during his service span and served as Instructor at Training establishments and supervisor at Flying Squadrons. He had successfully commanded an Operational Combat Unit in the South Western sector of the country.

The Sainik School Imphal Alumni Association wishes Gp Capt Suresh all the very best for his course and to keep the flag of his Alma Mater, make Manipur proud and serve the Nation to the utmost.
