Agartala: A significant milestone was achieved for sports journalism in the state as the Agartala Sports Journalists Club convened its inaugural meeting. Held in the conference hall of the Agartala Press Club, the gathering saw a robust participation of sports journalists, correspondents, TV reporters, and anchors.
The newly formed executive committee comprises eleven members, with Shantanu Banik assuming the role of president. Dulal Chakraborty and Subhash Ghosh have been appointed as vice presidents, while Santosh Gope serves as the editor.
The joint editors are Umashankar Bhattacharjee and Minakshi Ghosh while Indrani Dey takes on the responsibilities of treasurer.
In addition to these key positions, the club has established sub-committees to oversee specific areas.
Animesh Sharma will lead the football sub-committee, Srishant Chakraborty will head cricket, Rashmi Shil will focus on indoor games and Swarupa Naha will manage the social media sector.
Apart from that, General membership includes Kanti Bardhan, Suman Acharjee, Narayan Shil, Kinkar Shil, Abhishek Saha, Chandrima Sircar, and Sheshadri Dasgupta.
This development promises to enhance sports reporting and foster collaboration among journalists passionate about covering athletic events in Agartala and beyond.
