IJU condemns killing of MP Journalist Salman Ali Khan

New Delhi: Indian Journalists Union condemns murder Salman Ali Khan, a journalist of a local TV channel in Rajgarh district of Madhya Pradesh by unidentified men on the evening of September 17. Salman Ali Khan, who lived in Sarangpur, was shot dead in public. Three attackers shot Salman, who was standing with his 9-year-old son in front of the hospital in the evening, by putting a revolver on his temple.
According to the police, this incident happened due to personal rivalry between Salman Ali Khan and a person named Shahrukh. In the month of February last year also, he was attacked with a sword and knife. In that attack, Salman’s brother was also attacked. Both the brothers were badly injured in this attack. In the statement given after the attack, Salman had revealed that he had personal rivalry with a person named Shahrukh due to which this attack happened on him.
The incident happened when the SDOP was patrolling the area on the occasion of Anant Chaturdashi. The SDOP’s vehicle was just 50 steps away from the place where Salman was killed.
IJU demands justice for the slain journalists. IJU also expresses its concern for failure of the police to provide safeguard in spite of the fact that the journalist was attacked before also by seriously injuring him. IJU President and former member of Press Council of India Geetartha Pathak and IJU Secretary General , Vice President of International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) Sabina Inderjit said in a statement that journalists are increasingly facing attacks from anti social elements, criminals and political vested interests in MP. The IJU leaders asked the state government to provide safety and security to working Journalists of the state. They demands a speedy inquiry of the cold blooded murder of Salman Ali Khan and justice for him.
