Moirang: On the auspicious occasion of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s 128th birth anniversary, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Bishnupur District, successfully organised the Netaji Run-2025 under the inspiring slogan ‘Run for Unity’.
The event commenced with the run being flagged off from the iconic Keibul Lamjao National Park and concluded at the historic INA Headquarters in Moirang, a site that holds profound significance in India’s freedom struggle. Moirang is renowned as the first Indian territory to be liberated from British rule, where Colonel Shaukat Malik of the Indian National Army (INA) hoisted the Tricolour for the first time on Indian soil. This historic moment not only marked a turning point in the INA’s campaign but also served as a source of inspiration for Indians across the country.
Shri M. Asnikumar Singh, Chairman of Loktak Development Authority, graced the event as the Chief Guest. In his address, Shri Asnikumar highlighted Netaji’s unparalleled contributions to India’s freedom struggle and his enduring legacy as a beacon of courage, sacrifice, and patriotism.
“Netaji has always been a personal hero to me, someone from whom I have drawn deep inspiration throughout my life. To me, he was the ‘first Prime Minister’ of India – a visionary leader who dreamt of a united, self-reliant, and progressive nation,” Shri Asnikumar remarked.
He further emphasised the role of youth in nation-building, stating, “Our great future lies in empowering our youth with quality education, ample opportunities, and the values of hard work, dedication, and unity.”
Shri Asnikumar congratulated all participants and distributed prizes to the winners of the Netaji Run-2025, urging the youth to emulate Netaji’s ideals and actively contribute to building a prosperous and united India.
“Today’s run culminated fittingly at the historic INA Headquarters, a site of immense significance in India’s freedom struggle. After decades of neglect by previous governments, this iconic location has finally been transformed into a landmark befitting its historical importance, thanks to the visionary efforts of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, and Chief Minister Shri N. Biren Singh. Today, this site stands as a testament to the rich history of Moirang and the invaluable contributions of the people of Manipur to India’s fight for independence. It is now a place where the world can witness and honour the bravery and sacrifices of the Indian National Army and the proud legacy of the Manipuri people,” he added.
The event witnessed the participation of distinguished dignitaries, including Prof. Premlata Meisnam, State President of ABVP Manipur; Shri Gautam Philem, State Secretary; and Prof. AC Vellorpati, State Vice-President, along with hundreds of enthusiastic youth from across the state.
The Netaji Run-2025 not only celebrated the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose but also served as a heartfelt tribute to the collective sacrifices of the INA and the people of Manipur in the freedom struggle.
On this Parakram Diwas, ABVP Manipur reaffirms its unwavering commitment to empowering the youth and fostering the values of unity, patriotism, and dedication toward nation-building.
