FISH FEEDS DISTRIBUTED TO FLOOD AFFECTED FISH FARMERS OF MANIPUR

Imphal: The Department of Fishery, Government of Manipur in collaboration with the ICAR- Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (ICAR-CIFA), Bhubaneshwar has distributed about 20 tonnes of fish feeds to around 200 flood affected fish farmers of Manipur today at the office complex of the Directorate of Fisheries, Manipur at Lamphelpat under the ICAR-CIFA NEH Outreach Programme. The Director of Fisheries, Manipur, H. Balkrisna Singh along with the fisheries officials have distributed fish feed bags containing 100 kgs per beneficiary who are mostly flood affected fish farmers of both valley and hill districts of Manipur. Earlier, the Department of Fisheries, Government of Manipur have distributed lakhs of fish fingerlings comprising of Pengba and Indian Major Carps to almost 200 flood affected fish farmers of the State on 5th December, 2024 as a collaborative effort of the ICAR- Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (ICAR-CIFA), Bhubaneshwar. Speaking on the outreach programme, the Director of Fisheries, Manipur has appreciated the initiative of Dr. P.K. Sahoo, Director, ICAR-CIFA, Bhubaneshwar and Dr. Subhendu Adhikari, Principal Scientist, ICAR-CIFA for supporting the flood affected fish farmers of Manipur by providing fish seeds and feeds as well for economic revival and enhancement of fish production.
