Imphal: In a significant operation, the Assam Rifles successfully recovered a cache of weapons in General Area Zero Point – N Boljang Village track, Kangpokpi district, Manipur, highlighting the ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security in the region. Through diligent surveillance, coordinated efforts and collecting credible intelligence from sources, the force has been able to disrupt illegal wepaon smuggling networks.
The recovered 14 weapons include 01 x 5.56mm INSAS Rifle with magazine, 01 x .22 Pistol with 02 magazines, 01 x Bolt action Rifle, 01 x Short Range Projectile Launcher, 05 x Improvised Mortars, 05 x Pull Mechanism Rifles, 10 x Mortar Bombs.
The recovery of these weapons is a crucial step in the ongoing efforts to curb violence in Manipur and a testament to Assam Rifles’ dedication and effectiveness in maintaining law and order. It not only disrupts the supply chain of arms to insurgent groups but also serves as a deterrent against future illegal arms trafficking.
