Imphal: A heartfelt tribute was paid today to the brave souls of Manipur who sacrificed their lives for the dignity and sovereignty of the state. The remembrance event, “Athoubasing gi Ningshing Numit,” was solemnly observed at Khudengshabi Chingdol, Nongpok Sanjenbam, Imphal East. The ceremony was organised by the Observation Committee of Athoubasing gi Ningshing Numit 2025.
The day began at 6:30 AM with the arrival of attendees, followed by a two-minute silent tribute at 6:50 AM in memory of the departed heroes. A floral offering ceremony ran from 7:00 AM to 11:30 AM, where individuals paid their respects. The programme concluded with light refreshments for the gathering.
Maibam Ningthempishak Singh, Chairperson of the committee, addressed the media and highlighted the importance of honouring those who laid down their lives for Manipur’s cause. He announced that starting next year, memorial stones would be erected at the site to permanently honour their legacy. He also shared plans to expand the annual event and hold it in a larger format at Chingkheiching.
The event served not only as a day of remembrance but also as a powerful reminder of the courage and sacrifice of Manipur’s freedom fighters.
