Imphal: “Yoga is the path to peace in today’s troubled world,” said V Bhagaiah, National Executive Member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), addressing a gathering at the 11th International Day of Yoga celebration held at Bhaskar Prabha, Konjengleikai, Imphal. The event was jointly organised by Kreeda Bharati Manipur and the College Development Council of Manipur University under the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.”
In his keynote address, Bhagaiah emphasized that yoga is much more than physical exercise—it is a powerful spiritual and societal tool. “Yoga unites people, calms anger, brings peace of mind, purifies the body, and spreads love and harmony,” he said. “In a world plagued by wars and unrest, yoga offers a simple, ancient, and effective means to restore peace.”
He paid tribute to sage Patanjali, hailing him as a visionary who laid the foundation for a practice that transcends time and geography.
The event featured demonstrations of five key yoga asanas, followed by mass participation, encouraging the adoption of yoga as a daily routine for holistic well-being.
The celebration drew around 500 participants from all walks of life, including students, teachers, yoga enthusiasts, and the general public.
Bhagaiah also highlighted the global significance of the occasion, noting that more than 170 countries now observe International Yoga Day, reflecting yoga’s growing universal relevance.
The programme concluded with a collective meditation, reinforcing the message that yoga is not merely a discipline but a transformative way of life.
