Lions Clubs Distributes Relief Materials to 2,475 Flood Victims in Manipur

Imphal: In response to the recent devastating floods that have wreaked havoc across large parts of Manipur, the Lions Clubs under the International District 322D has launched a significant humanitarian relief operation, delivering essential supplies to thousands of displaced residents in the region.

Coordinated by Lion M. Shyambabu Singh MJF, Global Service Co-ordinator-I (2024–25), the effort has brought much-needed aid to 495 families, benefiting a total of 2,475 individuals residing in various flood-affected areas of Imphal East and Bishnupur districts. The relief operation is part of the Lions Clubs’ continued commitment to their guiding principle — “We Serve.”

Supported by an emergency grant from the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF), the distributed relief package included essential items such as rice, cooking oil, salt, potatoes, dal (pulses), and packaged drinking water.

The relief coverage extended to the following flood-affected localities:

1. Utloo Relief Camp – 523 beneficiaries

2. Thambalmarik College Oinam – 130 beneficiaries

3. Bishnupur Old DC Complex – 290 beneficiaries

4. Mangonlongbi College Ningthoukhong – 250 beneficiaries

5. Phubala High School – 451 beneficiaries

6. Khuyol Market – 370 beneficiaries

7. Okshongbung Archade Handloom School – 459 beneficiaries

The Lions Clubs had earlier conducted flood relief drives on July 3rd and 4th, and this latest effort further highlights the organization’s dedication to collective action and community resilience in the face of natural calamities.

Project Chairperson M. Shyambabu Singh expressed his gratitude to all contributors and volunteers, noting, “Through collective action and compassion, Lions Clubs continue to inspire hope and reaffirm the power of community in times of hardship.”

The Lions Clubs urges the media and public institutions to support awareness and coverage of ongoing humanitarian efforts as Manipur continues its journey toward recovery.
