IMPHAL : In a significant milestone for Manipur Middle East Foodstuff Trading SPS-LLC a consignment of organic and naturally grown pineapples by Meghalaya farmers was dispatched to Dubai on July 31, 2025. This was flagged off by Mostakim Hussain
Asstt Nodal Officer under the joint initiative of Atul Bora, President of Assam Gana Parisad (AGP) and Minister of Agriculture and Horticulture, Government of Assam and S. Brojen Singh , President of Manipur People’s Party (MPP).

The consignment of 2 metric tonnes was made possible through collaboration between the Agriculture and Horticulture department of Assam and Manipur Middle East Foodstuff Trading SPS-LLC, Ajman, UAE. The produces was collected from Meghalaya and plans are afoot to send produces from Manipur and Assam by next week. Representatives from certification authorities, APEDA, Phytosanitary and concerned officials were present during the dispatch. According to Jotin Thokchom, Business Development Manager (Overseas) at Manipur Middle East Foodstuff Trading SPS-LLC cum Central Committee member of Manipur People’s Party, an organic produce hub is set to be established in Assam under the Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern Region (MOVCDNER) mission of the Government of India. This hub aims to facilitate organic growers from across Northeast India.
The consignment, dispatched from Assam airport, is expected to reach Dubai on August 1, 2025. Furthermore, plans are underway to establish a organic vegetable mandi in every northeastern states, as announced by Jotin Thokchom during the dispatch ceremony. This development is poised to boost organic farming industry and provide better market access for local farmers in the north eastern states of India.
