Three Journalists Honored at AMMGSU 17th Foundation Day

Imphal: The All Manipur Muslim Girl Students’ Union (AMMGSU) celebrated its 17th Foundation Day Ceremony today at Classic Royale Hall, Imphal, with distinguished guests, academicians, civil servants, and student leaders in attendance.

As part of the celebration, three senior journalists — Kongbrailatpam Sarojkumar Sharma (Associate Editor, The Morning Bell), Brozendra Ningomba, and Keisham Yaiphaba, were honoured with Certificates of Appreciation for their outstanding contribution to the field of journalism. The recognition highlighted their role in upholding the values of truth, accountability, and public service through media.

Earlier in the day, the Union also organised a State Level Open Debate Competition 2025 on the theme “Rule of Law is the Only Path to Peaceful Coexistence in Manipur”. The session was graced by Senior Advocate Shri Khaidem Mani, who addressed participants and underlined the importance of law in restoring peace and harmony in the state.

The formal session of the foundation day featured speeches by dignitaries, including Janab Shamim Ahmad Shah, MCS (Joint Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of Manipur), Janab Syed Abdul Samad, MPS (Superintendent of Police, Manipur Central Prison, Sajiwa), Janab Md. Ziour Rahaman, MFS (Chief Finance Officer, Manipur University of Culture), Smt. Sanatombi Bachaspati Mayum, MFS (Chief Finance Officer, Education Department), and Smt. Huidrom Sofia Devi, MCS (Senior Administrative Officer, Directorate of University & Higher Education).

In his presidential address, Rahamani Chesaba, President of AMMGSU, reaffirmed the Union’s commitment to empowering students and encouraging intellectual and social contributions in Manipur.

The event concluded with prize distribution for the debate winners, followed by a vote of thanks and refreshments.
