New Delhi: Angellica Aribam, political activist and Founder of the Femme First Foundation, has been invited by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) to speak at a side event during the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.
The event, scheduled on 25 September, will bring together parliamentarians, policymakers, and civil society representatives to deliberate on strategies and recommendations aimed at enhancing the participation of women in political processes. Ms. Aribam will address the gathering on the importance of women’s leadership, inclusive governance, and strengthening democratic participation.
She will be speaking alongside other distinguished leaders, including Ms. Cynthia Lopez Castro, President of the IPU Bureau of Women Parliamentarians, and Ms. Amanda McRae, Director of U.N. Advocacy at Women Enabled International.

On this occasion, Ms. Aribam stated: “It is a privilege to be invited by the Inter-Parliamentary Union to speak at the United Nations General Assembly. I am committed to bringing forward the perspectives of women and young people who remain underrepresented in decision-making spaces worldwide.”
Ms. Aribam has been recognized internationally for her contributions to gender equality and youth leadership. She was featured in Forbes Asia’s ‘30 Under 30’ list and, through her work at Femme First Foundation, has pioneered initiatives to build inclusive political leadership in India.
Her participation at the UNGA represents an important milestone, highlighting India and South Asia’s growing contribution to global dialogues on gender equality and democratic governance.
