Imphal: The Right to Information (RTI) Week 2025 was inaugurated in Imphal on October 5 at the Auditorium Hall of the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR). This significant event marked the beginning of a week-long series of awareness activities and workshops on the RTI Act aimed at promoting transparency and accountability in governance.
Key Highlights of the Inauguration.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by prominent dignitaries, including:
– Th. Satyabrata Singh, Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly, who served as the Chief Guest.
– Asem Bhakta Singh, President of the All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union, who was the Guest of Honour.
– Koijam Radhashyam Singh, State Chief Information Commissioner, who presided over the function.
Objectives of RTI Week 2025.
The RTI Week 2025 aims to achieve the following objectives:
Popularize the RTI Act, 2005: To educate citizens about their right to access information and promote transparency in governance.
Spread Mass Awareness: To raise awareness among citizens and stakeholders about the importance of transparency and accountability in governance.
Promote Good Governance: To promote good governance through the effective use of RTI, enabling citizens to participate in decision-making processes.

Manipur Information Commission: A key organization responsible for promoting transparency and accountability in governance.
– Department of Personnel and Training, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Government of India*: A nodal agency for implementing the RTI Act and promoting good governance.
