Imphal: Parshuram Thingnam’s debut short film, “Toy Gun,” has won 1st Runner-Up – Best Short Film of the Year 2025 at the Hyderabad International Short Film Festival (HISFF), held at Prasads Multiplex from December 19-21, 2025. The film explores childhood innocence in conflict-affected regions, highlighting the psychological impact of guns on young minds.
Out of 705 films submitted, only 60 were officially selected for screening, and “Toy Gun” was among the top three films chosen by the jury. The award winners were:

– Best Short Film of the Year 2025: Sarnevshent (Iran) – Memento, Certificate & ₹1,00,000
– 1st Runner-Up: Toy Gun (India) – Memento, Certificate & ₹75,000
– 2nd Runner-Up: My Father Is Afraid of Water (Iran) – Memento, Certificate & ₹50,000
This recognition marks a significant milestone for Parshuram Thingnam, signaling the arrival of a powerful new voice in Indian independent cinema. “Toy Gun” is a deeply human story that reflects on fear, motherhood, and the lasting impact of guns on young minds, making it a standout debut film.
