Imphal: Yumnam Khemchand Singh, a seasoned BJP leader, is poised to become Manipur’s next Chief Minister after being elected as the BJP’s Legislature Party Leader. Currently, he serves as the MLA from Singjamei Assembly Constituency in Imphal West.
Singh’s credentials include serving as Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly (2017-2022) and holding key ministerial portfolios such as Municipal Administration, Housing Development, Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, and Education (2022-2025).
Known for his grassroots organisational skills and non-polarising nature, Singh brings stability and discipline to the table. He’s also a Taekwondo black belt holder (5th-Dan) and is expected to provide steady leadership amid Manipur’s political uncertainty.
