Imphal: Vungzagin Valte, a Kuki-Zo MLA from Manipur’s Thanlon Assembly Constituency, was airlifted to Delhi’s Medanta Hospital in Gurugram on February 8, 2026, due to deteriorating health. He sustained grievous injuries during the May 2023 ethnic violence in Imphal and had been undergoing prolonged treatment in Churachandpur.
Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh monitored Valte’s condition throughout the night and arranged an air ambulance for his evacuation. Valte’s health condition remained critical during the night but showed improvement on February 8.
