Imphal: Manipur University, in collaboration with the Palliative Care Society Imphal, commemorated World Hospice and Palliative Care Day with a theme focused on reflecting on a decade of progress: “Ten Years Since the Resolution: How Are We Doing?” The event, held at the university’s Health Centre, brought together healthcare professionals, students, and distinguished guests to discuss advancements and ongoing challenges in the field of palliative care.
The event was graced by Chief Guest Prof. N. Lokendra Singh, Honorable Vice-Chancellor of Manipur University, and Dr. Ksh. Manglem, President of the Palliative Care Society Imphal (PCSI). Guests of Honour included Dr. Lamabam Pinky Devi, In-charge of the Health Centre, MU, Dr. Y. Premchandra, Joint Director of SNO, NCD, NHM, Manipur, and Dr. Jugindra Sorokhaibam, Vice-President of PCSI.
The program featured a welcome address by Dr. Nandan Choudhary, Joint Secretary of PCSI, followed by speeches from the dignitaries, who emphasized the importance of accessible palliative care and the progress made since the resolution was passed a decade ago. Prof. Lokendra Singh highlighted the university’s commitment to supporting palliative care initiatives and enhancing the quality of life for patients and their families.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Nandan Choudhary, acknowledging the dedication of all participants and reiterating the need for continued efforts to ensure dignified and compassionate care for all.
