Imphal: (Wairi Singbul Network) In what appears to be an accidental fire, nine houses in Checkon were engulfed in flames on Wednesday night in Imphal East Checkon area, raising significant concerns due to the location’s high security, heavily guarded by Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel.
The area, densely populated by a mixed community primarily comprising the Kuki Zo, Nagas, Muslims and Meiteis already reeling from the impact of ongoing ethnic clashes, experienced heightened security measures enforced by the CRPF. Despite these measures, a catastrophic fire broke out, requiring over an hour for the fire brigade,
Manipur, especially during the intense winter, commonly faces fire incidents attributed to the use of electric and local charcoal heaters for warmth within households.
Amidst this incident, speculations and conspiracy theories have emerged suggesting possible foul play.
One theory circulating revolves around the potential involvement of miscreants aiming to shift blame onto the valley’s inhabitants.
This speculation suggests a motive to exacerbate ongoing conflicts and provide a basis for advocating the separation of administration for the Kuki Zo community, citing the alleged impossibility of living in the valley.
