Imphal: Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey laid the foundation stone of the Manipur Press Colony and inaugurates the Media Resource Centre on the occasion of the 49th foundation day of Manipur Press Club established in 1975.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Uikey appreciated the media for its bold coverage of the happening in the state and appealed to not loss objectively and unbiased reporting.
“I’m very thankful to media for it is because of the media that I’m what I’m today,” the lady governor who contributed Rs. One lakh to press club fund.
Assuring the media fraternity of the state of all possible help, Uikey assert that a strong media is a must for a variant democracy.
Notably, the lady governor’s presence as the chief guest of the Manipur Press Club foundation day spirited the event and indicated the growing importance and recognition of Manipur Press Club within the realms of media and governance.
Among the other dignitaries who graced the occasion were Yumnam Khemchand, minister MAHUD, RD and PR and Editor’s Guild Manipur president, Khogendra Khomdram as guest of honours and president Manipur Working Journalist’s Union Bijoy Kakchingtabam.
The foundation day concluded with grand feast.
