Imphal: (Waari Singbul Network )Chief minister N Biren Singh on Saturday evening air dashed to Guwahati and discussed security and developmental aspects of the northeast with his Assam counterpart Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Taking to Facebook, Biren said “It was a pleasure meeting with the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam, Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma Ji, at his official residence in Guwahati today.”
“Discussed various matters concerning the security and development of the North East region. The measures for the welfare of the Manipuris living in Assam were also deliberated,” he added.
Earlier on Saturday before departing for Guwahati, Biren launched the College Fagathansi Mission, a scheme to develop colleges at Moirang College in Bishnupur district.
He also laid the foundation stones and inaugurated various development projects taken up in Moirang assembly constituency in the district.
Addressing the gathering, Biren maintained that the state government has been taking up all possible efforts for the betterment of the people affected by the ongoing conflict and sought support and cooperation of the public in the government’s initiatives towards restoration of peace.
His government had been giving priority in the health and education sector since the formation of his government in 2017, added Biren, who returned back to Imphal on Sunday afternoon.
On the newly launched College Fagathansi Mission, the CM informed that the mission had been taken up to develop infrastructures of colleges and provide better higher education facilities as a follow up initiative of School Fagathansi Mission, a scheme to develop schools.
Altogether 24 colleges have been taken up under the mission, the CM said, adding that infrastructure facilities will be developed with a cost of Rs. 2.5 crores in each college.
Stressing the importance of education, Biren stated that with proper education, everyone would know the importance of preserving reserved forest which is important for mitigating environment degradation, provision contained in the Forest Act and the Indian Constitution.
The projects for which the stones were laid, include construction of Type-II quarter at Phougakchao Ikhai police station, prefabricated structures for accommodation of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) companies,Type-IV, III and II quarters at Moirang police station, 10-bedded Integrated Ayush Hospital and development of Indian National Army (INA) Martyrs’ War Memorial Complex, (Museum Component).
Others include, construction of OPD, casualty block, ward and IPD Blocks for CHC Moirang, 20 bedded Paediatric Ward at CHC Moirang and Football field with RCC Gallery at Moirang Local Ground under Khelo India Scheme.
Biren asked the public to avail the benefits of new welfare schemes taken up by the Government and thanked the people for the warm welcome accorded by them on his visit.
Education Minister Th Basanta Kumar stated that the current National Education Policy 2020, which had been taken up under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, contains innovative ideas and vision of making India as one of the developed countries.
