PWF Disburses Rs 1.40 Lakh in Medical Assistance Under MFA Scheme, Invites Applications for MFA 2026–27 Phase I

Imphal: The Paomee Welfare Foundation (PWF), a trust of the All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU), has disbursed a total of Rs 1.40 lakh under its Medical Financial Assistance (MFA) scheme for Phase II of 2025–26. The assistance covers treatment expenses incurred between October 1, 2025, and March 31, 2026.

Seven applications were received during the period. Following scrutiny by its Medical Board, headed by Dr Kh. Palin, MD, Shija Hospital, and Dr Kh. Lokeshwor Singh, Superintendent, JNIMS, and approval by the Board of Trustees, financial assistance was extended to all seven beneficiaries.

The distribution ceremony was held at the Manipur Press Club on Saturday in the presence of PWF Chairperson N. Tombiraj, AMWJU President Asem Bhakta, PWF Secretary Borun Thokchom, and other executive members.

Beneficiaries:
– Senior journalist Salam Bharat Bhusan received Rs 50,000 for treatment of prostate carcinoma.
– Ningthoujam Amuba of ISTV was granted Rs 25,000 for treatment of left temporo-parietal haemorrhage.
– Angom Ranjit Singh of Poknapham received Rs 20,000 for treatment of malignant neoplasm.
– Koijam Suraj of Pandam was provided Rs 10,000 for his son’s pneumonia treatment.
– Yendrembam Herojit of Akhoigi-Panthung received Rs 10,000 for treatment of ischaemic heart disease.
– Khumanthem Dhanachandra Singh of Imphal Times received Rs 10,000 for gallbladder surgery.
– Jimmy Leivon of The Indian Express was granted Rs 15,000 for his father’s medical treatment.

Meanwhile, the Paomee Welfare Foundation is inviting applications for Phase I of the Medical Financial Assistance scheme for 2026–27. The assistance will cover medical treatment expenses incurred between April 1, 2026, and September 30, 2026.

The scheme is open to eligible members of AMWJU, including associate members and retired journalists who have completed at least 10 consecutive years of membership.

Application forms can be obtained from the reception at the Manipur Press Club. Applicants must submit the duly filled forms along with all relevant supporting documents and original medical bills or invoices for verification.
