Manipur Police Destroy 39.395 kg of Seized Narcotics in Pre- and Post-Trial Disposal Drive

Imphal West – Lamdeng,Manipur Police disposed of approximately 39.395 kilograms of seized narcotics and psychotropic substances at the Shija Common Bio-Medical Waste Treatment Facility in Lamdeng, Imphal West, through an incineration process under the Pre- and Post-Trial Drug Disposal Programme.

The destroyed contraband included 4.444 kg of heroin powder, 5.353 kg of brown sugar, 0.422 kg of WY tablets, 2.668 kg of SP capsules, and 26.508 kg of ganja. The narcotics were recovered during the War on Drugs campaign conducted by the Manipur Government, through the vigilance and coordinated operations of district police, the Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB), and other security agencies.

Speaking on the sidelines, IGP Manipur Police Ningshen Worngam, IPS (Intelligence/NAB), said the disposal exercise marked a significant step in the collective effort to combat drug abuse and illicit trafficking. He noted that the programme reflected the commitment of Manipur Police towards eliminating illegal drugs from society and strengthening the broader vision of a drug-free state.

“Such efforts are not only a legal obligation but also a moral responsibility to protect future generations from the devastating effects of drugs,” IGP Ningshen Worngam stated, calling on the public to cooperate and reaffirm their commitment towards ensuring a drug-free Manipur.

Senior police officials present at the occasion included DIG N. Herojit, DIG M. Pradeep, Imphal West SP Shivakanta, and SP NAB W. Basu.
