Imphal: In connection with National Cancer Day 2026 cum National Rose Day 2026, the Manipur Cancer Society organized a series of humanitarian programs across Imphal.
The program was led by Convenor Lourembam Mangi, General Secretary Kangjam Birendra (75), Social Activist Dr. Kiran Yendrembam and members of the society.
As part of the initiative, the team visited RIMS Hospital, Kakinos Hospital and other locations, reaching out to around 30 families affected by cancer. To instill hope and positivity, the team presented red roses (Angangba Gulap) to cancer patients, encouraging them to face the disease with courage rather than despair.
Marking the day, a friendly football match was also organized between Cancer Warrior Football Club and Manipur Company Sports Football Club.
Convenor Lourembam Mangi and Dr. Kiran Yendrembam motivated the players, while General Secretary Birendra Kangjam, despite being 75 years old, participated in the match himself and appealed to all cancer patients to remain strong and motivated.
In an exciting encounter, Manipur Cancer Society Football Club defeated Manipur Company Sports Football Club 3-2 to emerge as winners.
On the occasion, cash prizes for Best Player, Best Keeper and the Winning Team were distributed by Manipur Cancer Society, along with mementos and certificates to all participating players.
