Kathmandu: Hostel Operators Association Nepal is set to utilize the funds collected from the Deusi-Bhailo program for social and philanthropic activities. According to Ganesh Shrestha, President of the Bhaktapur District Executive Committee of the Hostel Operators Association Nepal, the raised funds will be allocated toward charitable and community welfare initiatives.
The Deusi-Bhailo program was organized by the Bhaktapur District Executive Committee of the Hostel Operators Association Nepal. Aimed at supporting the smooth operation of the organization’s office as well as sustaining humanitarian assistance and corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, the money collected will be directed to social services.
Ganesh Shrestha stated that the proceeds will fund various philanthropic, social service, and humanitarian activities in the coming days. He clarified that alongside institutional development and office operations for the Bhaktapur District Committee, the primary goal is to dedicate the funds to community service.
Kiran Sharma, Central President of the Association, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to safeguarding the rights, unity, and business security of hostel operators. He highlighted that cultural events like Deusi-Bhailo strengthen institutional strength and deepen relationships among entrepreneurs.
Sharma stated clearly, “The Association is fighting at the national level for the rights and identity of this profession, not just addressing individual problems.” He noted ongoing dialogue and advocacy with relevant government agencies regarding issues such as registration, renewal, taxes, and house rent. He also mentioned that during the recent cooking gas shortage, the Association stepped in immediately to coordinate gas supply and ensure operators could continue functioning smoothly.
Emphasizing that the Association is a shared guardian that stands by its members in times of trouble rather than merely making promises, he committed to gaining official recognition for the sector and creating a respectful working environment for operators. He added, “Hostel operators are not just business owners; they are responsible service providers linked to the housing, safety, and future of thousands of students. Therefore, the state must grant them proper respect and recognition.”
Similarly, former Central President Sunil Bhetwal reflected on the Association’s journey from its inception to its current achievements, stressing that operators must be equally responsible toward social duties and institutional goals alongside their commercial interests.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from hostel operators across various districts, representing an organization that unites approximately 875 entrepreneurs nationwide. Notable attendees included Founding President Chetan Dahal, former President Revati Kumar Khadka, along with officials from various levels, members, and business owners.
Central General Secretary Devraj Kandel highlighted the overall activities, institutional objectives, and welfare initiatives of the Association. He noted that programs like Deusi-Bhailo maintain unity, cooperation, and harmony among operators while making the organization more dynamic and resilient.
To add entertainment and festive cheer to the program, popular singer Krishna Bam Malla performed his musical hits. The event was conducted by Mina Mahat, Secretary of the Bhaktapur District Executive Committee.
The Hostel Operators Association has a history of active participation in disaster management, relief distribution, and various social and humanitarian services. The Association reaffirmed its commitment to directing the proceeds from this year’s Deusi-Bhailo toward impactful and philanthropic causes for society.
