Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh today extended his best wishes to Haj pilgrims from Manipur, particularly from the Meitei Pangal community, who departed Imphal for Kolkata for their onward journey to Madinah, Saudi Arabia.
While seeing off the pilgrims at Imphal International Airport, the Chief Minister said, “I pray to the Almighty for your safe journey to the destination without any infirmity.”
Showing respect to the Haj pilgrims, he urged them, “During this difficult time, where unwanted incidents have occurred in Manipur, please offer prayers to the Almighty and seek His blessings in our collective endeavour to establish a peaceful Manipur.”
Notably, 379 people from the State have been selected for the Haj pilgrimage this year under the Manipur State Haj Committee. Of these, 172 pilgrims left for Kolkata yesterday while 207 departed today.
The send-off programme, organised by the Directorate of Minority Affairs, was attended by Tourism Minister Khuraijam Loken Singh, MLA Kongkham Robindro Singh, MLA Sheikh Noorul Hassan, Ex-MLA Y Antas Khan, and Director, Imphal International Airport, Chipemmi Keishing, among others.
