Imphal: Dr. Thangjam Dhabali Singh, Chairman and Managing Director of BABINA Group of Companies, was conferred the Green Entrepreneur Award 2026 by the Department of Environment and Climate Change, Government of Manipur, during the state-level observance of World Environment Day.
The award was presented at the City Convention Centre, Konung Mamang, Imphal, under the category “Green Initiative in Hospitality.” It recognized Dr. Singh’s outstanding contribution to environmental sustainability through innovative and environmentally responsible practices across the healthcare and hospitality sectors.
According to the Certificate of Recognition issued by the department, the award acknowledges his exceptional efforts in environmental sustainability and management in the state. The citation stated that his sustainable practices have emerged as a commendable model for safeguarding the environment, and recognized his invaluable contributions and steadfast commitment to excellence.
A renowned pathologist and entrepreneur, Dr. Singh has been at the forefront of promoting green initiatives within BABINA Group institutions since 2018. His initiatives include the adoption of renewable energy systems, water conservation measures, scientific waste management, and source-level waste segregation.
Under his leadership, solar-powered electricity systems and water recycling technologies have been implemented across healthcare and hospitality facilities. The group’s establishments recycle nearly one lakh litres of wastewater and generate a significant portion of their energy requirements through solar energy, reflecting a strong commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable development.
The Green Entrepreneur Award 2026 was among several honours presented during the World Environment Day observance. Other recognitions included Appreciation Awards, the Climate Communicator Award 2026, and the Lifetime Achievement Environment Award 2026.
The BABINA Group expressed gratitude to the Department of Environment and Climate Change, Government of Manipur, for the recognition.
