1st Bishnupur District Olympic Games 2026 Concludes at Moirang

MOIRANG:‌ The Closing Ceremony of the 1st Bishnupur District Olympic Games 2026 was held today at Chengei Lampak, Moirang in the august presence of Hon’ble Governor of Manipur, Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Manipur, Hon’ble Minister for Home & Youth Affairs & Sports, Shri K. Govindas Singh, Hon’ble MLAs, the Chief Secretary, and other distinguished dignitaries.

Held from 8th to 12th July under the theme “One District, One Spirit, Khello Bishnupur,” the Games served as a vibrant platform to promote grassroots sports, foster unity, and nurture emerging sporting talent from across the district.

The inaugural edition featured 16 sporting disciplines: Athletics, Table Tennis, Badminton, Boxing, Wushu, Football, Wrestling, Kabaddi, Jeet Kune Do, Kho Kho, Weightlifting, Rowing, Canoeing and Kayaking, Volleyball, Gymnastics and Sepak Takraw.

Speaking as the Special Guest of Honour at the closing ceremony, it was stated that the Games reflected the collective spirit of the people and the state’s commitment to sports development.

Heartfelt appreciation was extended to the organisers, athletes, officials, volunteers, and spectators for making the event a grand success. It was emphasized that such initiatives will continue to inspire youth and strengthen Manipur’s rich sporting legacy.

The 5-day sporting extravaganza saw participation from athletes across the district, marking a significant step toward identifying and grooming talent at the grassroots level. The Games were organized by the District Administration, Bishnupur and Bishnupur District Olympic Association in collaboration with the Directorate of Youth Affairs and Sports under the aegis of the Manipur Olympic Association.
