Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Tuesday asserted that peace is a precondition for the overall development of the State, expressing deep sorrow over recent incidents of violence.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Ebudhou Phunal Ningthou Telheiba–Sandok Ningthou Apanba Laishang at Chanam Sandrok, Imphal East District, organised by the Lai Haraoba & Village Development Authority (LHVDA), the Chief Minister said he personally shares the grief of the people over the unfortunate Tronglaobi incident, in which two innocent children lost their lives.
He noted that the incident occurred unexpectedly at a time when the Government has been actively working to restore free movement along highways and promote peace through dialogue among communities. Such tragedies, he said, bring pain and anguish to all sections of society.

The Chief Minister informed that the case has been handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), assuring that those responsible will be brought to justice.
Highlighting developmental concerns, he stated that proposals for the Keirao Assembly Constituency had been submitted earlier by local representatives and assured that necessary actions would be expedited. He also expressed his intention to revisit the constituency to review the progress of developmental works.
During the programme, five successful candidates from the constituency who cleared the Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) examination were felicitated. The Chief Minister encouraged youth to believe in hard work, stating that success is achievable regardless of one’s background.
In his presidential address, Keirao MLA Lourembam Rameshwor Meetei said the Chief Minister’s visits across both hill and valley districts reflect the Government’s commitment to restoring normalcy in the State.
The event was attended by members of LHVDA, local residents, and other dignitaries.
