KAKCHING: The foundation stone laying ceremony for a new _”Khana Chaoba Wangbrel Khubam”_ was held on Sunday at Waikhong Uyungkhunou Community Hall, Kakching District. The event was organized by EETINPHAM, Kongba Nongthombam Leikai, Imphal East.
The foundation stone was laid at Waikhong Uyungkhunou Lanjanpokpi Ching by Angom Rosoraj Mani, Angom Ningthou, Manipur, who attended the function as Chief Guest.
Dignitaries present included:
Chamba Laishram, Chief Advisor, EETINPHAM, who presided over the function; Wangkhem Brojen Singh, Chairperson, Administrative Committee, Waikhong Gram Panchayat; Dr. Basudev Singh, President, Manipur Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Sandham Gandharaj, Member Secretary, Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board; Laishram Ishabanta @ Poireiton, Luplakpa, Lainingthou Sanamahi Thougal Kanglup; Heisnam Shilan Meitei, Meitei Leepun, Thoubal; Ningthoukhongjam Thoithoi Meitei, General Secretary, Uyungkhunou Rural Development Organisation; Asem Bhakta Singh, President, All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU); Khogendra Khomdram, President, Editors Guild Manipur (EGM); and Elangbam Amujao Singh, Advocate.
Delivering the keynote address, Leishangthem Budhi Meetei, Founder President, EETINPHAM said that EETINPHAM was formed with the objective of reviving and strengthening _Sanamahi Laining_, the ancient indigenous faith of the Meitei community. He stated that although the faith had declined for some time, it is now witnessing a revival. He appealed to all to take collective responsibility in preserving it, adding that the ancient faith and traditions practiced by the people of Manipur can also bring peace and harmony to the state.
Speaking as Chief Guest, Angom Ningthou Rosoraj Mani expressed happiness over the initiative to construct a temple dedicated to the Sanamahi faith in such a beautiful natural setting. He said the indigenous faith promotes love, unity and peaceful coexistence among communities. He added that the efforts being made today are for future generations and urged everyone to continue working with dedication.
