Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh Commemorates Vijay Diwas, Pledges Strength for One India, Strong India

Imphal: Chief Minister Shri N. Biren Singh, speaking at the solemn occasion of Vijay Diwas that commemorates Indo-Pak War 1971, held at the 1st Manipur Rifles Banquet Hall, emphasized the paramount importance of fortifying India and fostering a united, robust nation.

Recounting the historical significance of the Indo-Pak War of 1971, the Chief Minister hailed it as a monumental chapter in India’s military history, highlighting the remarkable feat of concluding the war in a mere 13 days.

Underlining the essence of maintaining robust diplomatic relations with neighboring countries, the Chief Minister commended Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s initiatives in bolstering international ties, notably with neighboring nations such as Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan.

Acknowledging the relentless efforts of the Indian Armed Forces and the State’s security forces and police in restoring peace within Manipur, the Chief Minister praised their collaborative endeavors amidst challenging situations. He emphasized the significance of joint efforts among security forces, the State police, and community support in enhancing the region’s tranquility.

Emphasizing vigilance in border areas, the Chief Minister cautioned against dismissing events along the border, particularly in Myanmar, hinting at concerns regarding foreign influx. Stressing proactive measures, he highlighted the deployment of biometric systems in areas like Kamjong and Ukhrul, urging similar strategies in regions like Behiang, adjacent to Myanmar, considering reports of heightened conflicts in the neighboring country.

Asserting a humanitarian approach toward individuals fleeing violence, the Chief Minister emphasized the necessity of identifying them through biometric data collection, offering temporary shelter without allowing the establishment of permanent settlements within the State’s borders.

The commemoration, graced by Hon’ble Minister Shri Th. Biswajit Singh, witnessed performances by the Shri Shri Bal Mukunda Dev Government Music College, Imphal. Dignitaries including Ministers, MLAs, Chief Secretary Dr Vineet Joshi, Security Advisor Shri Kuldiep Singh, and high-ranking civil and police officers attended the event.

Additionally, the Chief Minister, accompanied by Minister L. Susindro Meitei and Chief Secretary inspected the ongoing construction work at the Police HQ, further underscoring the government’s commitment to enhancing security infrastructure.

Later in the day, at a function organized by the Economic & Resource Development Organisation (ERDO) for the distribution of potato seeds, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh commended the organization’s initiative to provide seeds and purchase harvested produce from farmers. Highlighting various developmental schemes aimed at improving the populace’s quality of life, the Chief Minister reiterated the state’s progress under the present administration.

The event saw the presence of Commissioner (Horti & Soil Conservation) Shri T Panmei, signifying the collaborative efforts towards agricultural and socio-economic advancements in Manipur.
