Recent Security Operations in State Yield Significant Recoveries and Arrests: Tensions Subside as Authorities Maintain Vigilance

Imphal: The recent 24 hours in the State were marked by tension and sporadic firing, fortunately now under control. Security forces conducted search operations in vulnerable hill and valley districts, resulting in significant recoveries. In Kangpokpi District, an AK-56 rifle, single bore barrel rifles, and live rounds were seized. Churachandpur District yielded a diverse array, including a 12G shotgun, automatic rifle, improvised mortars, and more.

On February 1, 2024, Manipur Police apprehended MD. Zahid Khan for suspected Brown Sugar trafficking. A total of 111.80 gm, contained in 10 soap caps, was confiscated. This led to the initiation of a case at Mao PS for further investigation.

In terms of security and logistics, the movement of 194 and 216 vehicles along NH-37 and NH-2 respectively was ensured, particularly for essential items. Strict security measures were implemented in vulnerable areas, with security convoys safeguarding sensitive stretches to facilitate free and safe vehicle movement.

A network of 141 Nakas/checkpoints was strategically placed across different districts, resulting in the detention of 250 individuals for various violations.
