Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh today felicitated Imphal West and Pherzawl districts for achieving ‘Surakshit’ status under the Mobilisation for AIDS Suraksha (MAS) initiative by attaining the HIV 95-95-95 targets.
The achievement marks a significant milestone in Manipur’s efforts towards fulfilling the ambitious 95-95-95 targets under the National AIDS Control Programme (NACP), aimed at ensuring that 95 per cent of people living with HIV know their HIV status, 95 per cent of those diagnosed receive sustained antiretroviral therapy (ART), and 95 per cent of those undergoing treatment achieve viral suppression.
Speaking at the felicitation programme, the Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand congratulated the district administrations of Imphal West and Pherzawl for achieving the targets. He also appealed to the remaining districts to intensify their efforts towards attaining the same status.
The MAS initiative, launched under the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) and implemented in Manipur through the Manipur State AIDS Control Society (MACS), focuses on strengthening community participation, generating awareness, promoting HIV and sexually transmitted infection (STI) prevention, and improving access to testing, treatment and other essential services.
The felicitation ceremony was held at the Cabinet Hall, Chief Minister’s Office, Minister’s Block, Mantripukhri.
Chief Secretary Rajeev Singh Thakur, Commissioner-cum-Secretary and President of MACS Sumant Singh, and the Deputy Commissioner of Imphal West attended the programme.
